New construction for the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Berlin

Project management for Kleyer Koblitz Letzel Freivogel architects, Berlin
2013

The new construction of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt’s technical center was the first building block implementing the master plan for the institute’s historic site in Berlin Charlottenburg. The cubic structure specifies the axis of access on the campus and strengthens the characteristic appearance of the historic site. It is a robust and sculptural masonry building that deliberately follows the materiality of the historical buildings on the campus. The technical centre contains a heterogeneous room programme consisting of measuring rooms, workshops, storage rooms, areas for the technical supply of the entire property as well as the central reception for the institute.
