Operncarrée Berlin

Five-star hotel, offices and flats, conversion and addition to listed buildings

Co-project management for Novotny Mähner Assoziierte, Berlin
Planing phases 1 – 5
2003-2005

The project covers the entire area of the listed block between Bebelplatz and Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin-Mitte. The core of the project was the conversion of the former head office of the Dresdner Bank into the luxury hotel „Hotel de Rome“. A concept was developed in dialogue with the hotel operator in London, the listed building authorities, interior designers and the investor, which aimed to preserve the original building fabric as much as possible. High-quality office space with 6,400 sqm gross floor area was created in the adjacent buildings, which were also former bank buildings. Towards Gendarmenmarkt, 9,500 sqm of gross floor space were newly built.

I accompanied the project from the investor selection process to the implementation planning for the Hotel de Rome as co-project manager.
